SOMETIMES THE LITTLE THINGS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

SOHA BECOMES PARTNER AND SUPPORTER OF ONE OCEAN FOUNDATION

Soha has always developed its cosmetics to be up to 100% natural and without silicones, non-biodegradable micro-polymers that take up to 500 years to decompose.

Since the beginning Soha has favored the use of recyclable packaging (glass, paper, PET) and limited the use of plastic not strictly necessary.

Today Soha goes one step further: it becomes a partner of the One Ocean Foundation, to protect and promote the preservation of our beautiful sea.

WE DONATE 1% OF OUR TURNOVER FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE SEA AND THE MARINE ECOSYSTEM

We decided to make even more concrete our commitment to protecting the seas and oceans through the project "1% for the sea" with which we donate 1% of our turnover to support initiatives and projects of one ocean foundation to accelerate solutions to the problems of the oceans and the marine ecosystem.

"THE SEA IS THE SOUL OF SARDINIA AND OF THE SARDINIANS: WE HAVE THE DUTY, AMONG ALL, TO PROTECT IT BECAUSE SAVING THE SEA ALSO MEANS SAVING OURSELVES".

WHO IS ONE OCEAN FOUNDATION

One Ocean Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2017 right in Sardinia, more precisely in Porto Cervo, by the will of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (which in 2017 celebrated its 50th anniversary).

Its goal is to accelerate the development of solutions to combat marine pollution by inspiring international leaders, promoting the Blue Economy and spreading the culture of sustainability and preservation of the marine environment.

CHARTA SMERALDA: THE CODE OF ETHICS TO SAVE THE SEA

One Ocean Foundation has drawn up its own manifesto: the Charta Smeralda..

It is a code of ethics created to raise public awareness by highlighting the sense of urgency in addressing the most pressing problems of the oceans and marine and coastal ecosystems by defining areas of concrete action for citizens and companies through several points. Those provided by the Charta Smeralda for companies are:

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The organization undertakes to comply with the principles of sustainable development, to respect the regulations, guidelines and international, national and local codes of conduct on environmental protection.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND ECO-FRIENDLY BEHAVIORS

Commitment to being responsible and transparent in all activities and initiatives, monitoring environmental impact and making data and information accessible to all stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITY AND TRANSPARENCY

Commitment to developing ideas, innovative solutions, best practices, gathering data and information to be shared with other organizations, partners, members and the scientific community.

INVOLVEMENT OF NEW GENERATIONS

Commitment to raise awareness among the public, members and customers on the protection of the marine and coastal environment (ocean literacy) involving the younger generation with educational initiatives.

COMMUNICATE AND SPREAD THE CHARTA SMERALDA

Commitment to communicate and disseminate the Emerald Charter and its principles among members, customers, partners and other organizations and companies.

As partners and supporters of One Ocean Foundation we share all the points of the Charta Smeralda that we have signed with the promise to make concrete its objectives through our actions, choices and decisions.

The Charta Smeralda is available in two "versions": one, consisting of 5 points, for companies and organizations and another, which includes 10 points, that anyone can sign and help spread it to make a difference: sign it to save the sea!

KEY PROJECTS OF THE ONE OCEAN FOUNDATION

NO PLASTIC IN THE OCEAN

This is a project of One Ocean Foundation to combat marine pollution by plastics and microplastics: thanks to various initiatives, the association and its partners aim to collect tons of plastic for their re-introduction into the plastic production cycle that favors the development of a circular economy.

In fact, plastic is a virtually "infinite" material (it never degrades completely in nature, converting into invisible microparticles but still polluting), and we find ourselves in the need to transform this disadvantage into an opportunity to reuse plastic in a virtuous circle that leads to decrease the amount in landfills and seas.

IL MARE INIZIA DA QUI (“THE SEA BEGINS HERE”)

"The sea begins here" is the project of One Ocean Foundation that offers Italian schools support and materials to include in the curriculum the teaching of the reasons that call everyone, even those who live far from the coast, to adopt responsible behavior towards the sea.

“Il mare inizia da qui” wants to help spread the awareness that the problems of the sea are linked to human activities that take place on land. Solving them is fundamental for the survival of the planet, since all ecosystems are inextricably interconnected by balances that need to be re-established urgently.

Sardinia has always been the inspiration that led us to create a series of unique and natural products: the island's ecosystem is based on a delicate balance between the land, its inhabitants and the sea; we know that if our sea were to begin to suffer, it would be detrimental to the entire Sardinian nature.

For this reason we felt the need to do more not only for our sea, but for all the seas and oceans that are in danger as never before: becoming partners and supporters of One Ocean Foundation was for us a natural evolution in a path that leads us to be more and more attentive to the environment.

In what consists '1% for the sea'

As partners and supporters of One Ocean Foundation we donate 1% of our turnover to the association in order to finance projects, initiatives and activities aimed at the safeguard of seas and oceans.

We make concrete our commitment to the protection of the sea and the environment through virtuous choices throughout the life cycle of our products, from the choice of raw materials to their processing, from packaging (where we already prefer sustainable materials such as paper and glass by limiting the use of plastic to a minimum, which in the future we will replace where possible with the use of renewable sources or recycled post-consumer), to shipping and all other important aspects that can affect the environmental footprint of the products we produce.

What we donate to One Ocean Foundation would not be possible without our customers and those who choose to buy our products: together we can make a difference.
